The Arizona Wildlife Federation is the state affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation. We have a board of directors and a full-time staff working through Arizona.

Our donors, partners, affiliates, participants, and volunteers have diverse interests in what the great outdoors has to offer. From hunters to hikers, wildlife-watchers to anglers, photographers to gardeners, our supporters have a critical shared passion:

Protecting Arizona's wildlife, waters, and wild places.

For over a century, we have been educating, inspiring, and assisting individuals and organizations to value, conserve, enhance, manage, and protect wildlife and wildlife habitat.

We work on behalf of Arizonans like you to advocate for science-based wildlife management, access to our state's incredible public lands, and provide opportunities for people to experience the outdoors. We believe Arizona’s wildlife and public lands define our state and provide our families with world class recreation opportunities. We have a proven track record of success in Arizona:

  • Educate Arizonans on the importance of experiencing and valuing the outdoors
  • Involve outdoors enthusiasts in volunteer work and conservation knowledge
  • Advocate for public land access and the right to hunt and fish for all Arizonans
  • Give a voice to outdoors enthusiasts and sportspeople across the state
  • Protect Arizona native species through volunteer projects, public education, and advocacy

We believe in science-based, Commission guided wildlife management

Aldo Leopold, a founder of the Arizona Wildlife Federation

Since the founding of the organization in 1923, one of AWF’s primary goals has been the establishment and maintenance of a Commission form of wildlife administration, free of political influence. We continue to work with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and Commissioners to assure that science-based best practices are used in the management of wildlife and habitat in Arizona.

Our objectives include:

    • Promoting legislation dealing with conservation of our natural resources, the protection of the rights of Arizona outdoorspeople, and the improvement of outdoor recreation.
    • Vigorous and impartial support of enforcement of all state and federal conservation laws pertaining to the management of fish and wildlife.
    • Encouraging conservation education in our schools.
    • Promoting responsible outdoor recreation, including hunting and fishing, through scientific principles and the practice of multiple use of the public lands of Arizona.
    • Engaging individuals in hands-on conservation efforts that enhance and restore wildlife habitat.
