Come join us on our new monthly hike program! These hikes are your opportunity to meet AWF staff, learn about the important conservation work being done in Arizona, and learn some new naturalist skills — all while getting outdoors.
This month, we will be exploring the Water Ranch Trail Loop at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve. This hike will be 2 miles in total and be on flat ground — though we may occasionally wander closer to the ponds in the area! Winter is a great time to come visit the preserve, as many bird species are here for the cooler weather. We will utilize the mobile apps eBird and Merlin, which we recommended downloading prior to the hike. These apps will help us to identify and make note of many bird species based on their appearance, calls, and songs.
This is a popular location for running, fishing and birding, so expect to see a lot of folks out on this day.
Note — Gilbert Riparian Preserve is pet-friendly.
